To date, there have been no subset letters after the L. This is not to say that there have not been or won't be internal changes without model letter changes.

Well, I thought I covered that as well.
gunrunnerjohn posted:You can install the current firmware on any version of the TIU, but obviously you don't get the circuitry changes of the Rev. L. Some would say that's not necessarily a bad thing.
Obviously, the answer is no, you just get the new software functionality, not any hardware improvements.
There are several voluminous threads on home-built hardware changes for Rev L.
I have been figuring out Lionel’s Legacy system over the years, and I would like to venture out into the dcs world. I want to get a tiu and wiu so I can run trains on the app with my existing legacy engines. I can’t seem to find one anywhere, and if I do find one, it says older version. Is it safe to just wait until the new tiu version is in stock, or can I upgrade the older tiu. Does anyone know the estimated time of delivery for the tiu?
Logan, there have been no announcements of any TIU version beyond Rev L. There might be an internal revision of surge protection devices. I've never seen a TIU that said, "Older Version."
Is this the item we are talking about
Trainworld web site says MTH 50-1001 DCS $ 325 backordered expected delivery 12/20/18.
( an earlier post said backordered until 12/2020 )
I don't think this has been mentioned; the Rev L has a USB port that makes connection to WiFi very simple. There is also much better signal strength on the outputs as compared to earlier revisions.
I thought I read on this forum some where that running a wire and tying all the channels common terminals together was a good Idea. I did this so is that ok or should I take the wire off and keep the commons sperated?

They did have it in stock, till I bought the last one they had 😁.
Any 50-1001 TIU/remote set or individual TIU you purchase new from a dealer should be a revision L. The one I just bought is.
Roger G: You are absolutely correct in connecting the blacks.
Gilly: I have Rev L & a Rev H. Both have WIUs. The serial-USB adapter cable works fine for the Rev H.

That's how I do it, don't know about anyone else.

All the commons on the input and output sides of my TIU are tied together. It's caused no problems and I get a DCS signal strength of 10 on all 15 blocks on my layout.
I have the commons tied together on the outputs only on my TIU (Rev L). At these four jumpers is also where my Legacy signal is connected. Been that way for a few years now, no problems with either system.
