The DL&W cabs have been started. The windows were a little tricky but a jig made it a little easier. The ends will be done tonight and maybe I can assemble the bodies tomorrow.

This is great, Malcolm! Thanks!
Artie
Nice Malcolm. Wood or steel version?
Chris, They are the steel version. Malcolm
Progress photos of number 1. Since I’ve not built this one before I’m finishing one before I do the other six. This one is tough but not as tough as the N&W CF cabs.

Malcolm, what kind of trucks will you use? I run conventional three rail with Lionel old school crab claw couplers.
Thanks for the progress reports! I can’t believe the detail!
Impressive!
Oh, I think you’ll want one when he’s done, Earl! I’ve got my dibs in!
Fantastic, Malcolm! Just curious...did you ever finish those 4 MTH Northeastern steel caboose rebuilds??
I’m going to need a bib, because of all the drooling....!
I’m truly impressed.
Impressive, as always.
Dick
great progress Malcolm.
Malcolm,
Beautiful work, very clean build. Wish you didn’t paint it. Thanks for sharing your work.

I’m just stunned at the level of detail, precision, and speed of assembly. Magnificent!
Are you using decals from Prime Mover? That’s where I get my DLW from.

Yes, I am using PM.
Wow! Thats a beautiful caboose!
Beautiful as always Malcom but I believe there should be an inverted V shape gutter above the the side cupola windows. Those gutters are one of the things that make this cab distinctive.

Thanks Pete! I got photos and just flat overlooked it! I also am adding the gutter strips over the steps too that I missed. I better slow down a little.

The salivating continues....
It rained cats and dogs today do I stayed inside and drilled 392 holes and installed that many NBW castings. Handrails to tonight and tomorrow. I’m supposed to have a great weather day for painting Friday, now it’s up to me to get them ready by Friday. The photo is six of the DL&W cabs and the interloper is a CGW.

The production in multiple numbers impresses me. I can barely complete one project, let alone 6. Great work!
Tom
Brother Love,
All I can say is Wow! Artie is going to drown in his saliva if he doesn't one soon. :-p
Earl
WOW! Another great looking caboose project. Fun and inspiring following you work from beginning to end. Will that CGW interloper be a 3R for sale?🙏🙏🙏

Absolutely beautiful! So realistic.

Malcolm, amazing work, as usual. Beautiful detail. If you ever decide to do one in the modern DL&W paint scheme, I’d be definitely interested in one.
The picture is from Steamtown about a year and a half ago.

I have one started but I have not found decals yet. I’ll keep you posted.
Truly works of art. I cannot cut simple shapes out of styrene - you must have incredibly sharp knives.
That close-up step detail is fantastic!
Malcolm, I'll bet Prime Mover will print his white version in black for you. He's done custom for me.

This is a GVT (Genesee Valley Transportation) caboose. Not sure if its the same caboose relettered or they have two.
I would be interested in one painted like this. Dan's Resin Casting already has the decals.

Thanks, Malcolm... now you’ve got me salivating
The day I took the picture of the caboose, I was actually on my way to Grzyboski’s to pick up one of the custom run of Lionel C-420’s they did in the current DL&W paint scheme. I’ve been looking for a matching 3-rail caboose ever since.

Alas, there is no more DL&W. The modern shortline in Scranton is the Delaware-Lackawanna, somehow related to the Genesee Valley Transportation Rail System.
The Delaware, Lackawanna and Western merged with the Erie to become the Erie Lackawanna in 1960.
The above pictured GVT and “Lackawanna” cabooses in white and gray are from the old DL&W, however, built in their Dunmore shops in the 50’s on old tender frames.
