Since it is rainy today, I decided to dig out ome of my std gauge boxes. While sitting in my chair watching football, I lubricated rolling stock/passengers. I then took my Meguiar'S cleaner wax and did every car. It's been awhile since I had any of these out so it's like getting them new all over again. what have you done to your tinplate today?

Went to a TCA show yesterday and saw a gray 385E (my all time favorite loco) with 1760 series cars, a 400E Blue Comet set, a 5 special or 51 (couldn't tell which), a brass 7, 2 390's and a few 384's plus 124 stations, a gaggle of villas and even an AF Salt Lake bridge.  Just to see all of them in one place is a good day for me!

After moving my Standard gauge off the floor on to the layout I  went around and put track clips on joints that would work loose then tacked the track down. Finally, I  changed over the wiring  from the KW to the ZW so now the ZW runs the outer #1 072 loop and the #2 Standard gauge loop.  Really like having the Standard gauge up where I can see it. The dog isn't happy though, she would lay on the floor with her head on the track.

Dave, I missed something somewhere. How are the two tender shells held together?

yes you missed the briefing held on Oct 31.......the halves are held in place with my old friend JB.....like I did the tender for my Torpedo....1668

I m also working on a 221 streamline (have many projects this is just one in the works). I ground off all the piping from the boiler and drilled various hole in the shell for cotter pins to hold wire that will simulated the piping (did this on a 2015 and it came out great).
I also picked up some 6 wheels trucks for the new tender these have the hall affect diode and magnet on the axle for the chuff chuff sound already have a old Lionel sound module the type that was place on the foam).
The engine will be using a old tender shell something like a 2466 or newer one. I have a bunch of these style shells and most look the same but are different in height and length. To keep the tender the same height as the engine I will have to lower it on the metal chassis. A little cutting/grinding and it will fit. Always loved this 221.
Did anyone ever put a "Sleuthe" smoke generator in thjis loco and if so what model #?

Navy seal, Great trailer, but aren't you afraid of theft with the signage?

Cool, sunny day today, perfect for cleaning up the yard, leaves etc so I ran trains on and off most of the day.  i spent some time cleaning some Standard gauge cars and oiling some engines but mostly ran trains. The leaves can wait for another day. Next up is to run my Ives standard gauge engines. Have 3 and lots of passenger cars. Greenberg show next weekend !!

Thanks.  I think the trailer is great too!

I had the signage added to the trailer when I moved from Virginia to Arkansas in order to promote creation of a Mid America Chapter (MAC) of SGMA.   Unfortunately, when I moved here what I quickly discovered was that Standard Gauge trains, and more importantly, Standard Gauge "operators" are few and far between.  Therefore, I thought the signage would help get the word out about SGMA and I believe it has to a limited degree.  This will be SGMA MAC's fifth trip to Trainfest and I think SGMA's success at that show demonstrates my limited success.  That said, I am always looking for new members to join SGMA-MAC and I am always open to invites to other big 2-day shows in Mid America.

One additional note, being a SEAL and being "afraid" doesn't compute!  While being a SEAL and being smart enough to have full insurance does.

Great set Steve! Very impressive. I cannot help but notice the wonderful glass glass. Was this a fixture out of a store? I have often wondered where I could go to get something like that?

First of all Bob thank you for your service, and secondly how can I find out if there is a SGMA in Northern California?

They came out of a Hallmark store that was going out of business many years ago. Paid a whopping $25.00 each for them.

Joe,

Unfortunately, there currently isn't a SGMA chapter in Northern California but that doesn't mean you can't start one like I did the Mid America Chapter!  All it takes is some Standard Gauge enthusiasts, their Standard Gauge trains, and the will and energy to build a few Standard Gauge modules according to SGMA's online standards.

http://www.sgma.us/

Fortunately for you the West Coast has always been a hot bed of Standard Gauge enthusiasts with many Modern Era Standard Gauge builders like RichArt, McCoy, and Jerry Brown located there.  In addition, SGMA modules were designed so that most of the parts needed to assemble a module can be ordered online, or by phone, or found at your local lumber, hardware and carpet stores.  And their addresses and phone numbers can be found on the SGMA website above and I know both East Coast and Mid America members will be happy to offer their advice online.

So take the plunge and start your own regional "NORCAL" chapter of SGMA.  Believe me, you will not regret the effort!

Cleaned ALL my track, sure needed it. Finished tacking down the Standard gauge track. Ran my Ives Standard engines-they are sweet !!  Gathered the pieces to make  an adapter coupler between Lionel  and hook and latch couplers so I can mix my  Standard gauge freight cars plus planning and adapter between the Ives cars and the Lionel latch couplers. Putting down the standard gauge loop has doubled my layout enjoyment at very little cost. I  have 9 Lionel engines and 3 Ives. About  20 Lionel Standard freight cars and about 18 passenger cars. I am very pleasantly surprised how smooth and quiet the Standard runs on my layout.
