Do u have a magic wand?  Adding a MTH DCS Engine...

Here is the end of the story:  My MTH PS3 44 tonner  cannot be reinstalled by my DCS system.  It states:  "No engine to add."  If I turn the power on and off to the track; causing the engine to start, and then re-attempt to install: it reads: "Engine Already in Remote."  I scroll through the Remote.  It is NOT there.  I select each of the 18 installed engines and press the number "3" button to activate the sounds--The 44 tonner does not respond.

Tonight, I went through the pain-staking process of completely resetting COMPLETELY CLEARING my five (5) hand-held DCS remotes.  I completely cleared everything.

On the same strip of track, same transformer, same TIU, I reinstalled eighteen (18) other DCS engines mostly PS3s but several PS2s.  Everything perfect!  Less 44 tonner...

SUGGESTIONS??????????????????????????????????????

Do u have a magic wand?  I'm betting this has happened to someone and that person knows the cure!

I hate to tell you this, JRC, but clearing/resetting all remotes is not a good idea, and can accomplish nothing at this point.  If you had saved one of them to your computer, you could do a restore.

I would have suggested saving one remote to the computer.  Then resetting it, placing only the 44T on the track, and with the completely clean remote doing an add engine.

John,

Try recovering the 44 tonner. Using a TIU with an ID# of 1:

  • The all other engines off the tracks.
  • Place the engine on the track.
  • Put power to the engine.
  • Press: Menu/System/Engine Setup/Recover Engine

If it's recovered, re-add it to a DCS Remote.

You are the man!  No wonder you wrote the book.  I was beating my head against the wall and did everything I knew and everything that had been suggested to me.  When I read your post I immediately walked downstairs and did as you instructed and within a split second I saw "Engine Recovered."  I then did the "add" thing and wham!  It is there.

I really appreciate all your great advice.  I'd like to send you a complimentary copy of my book.  If you PRIVATELY message me I'll send you one.  :-)  Thanks again!
