With quite a choice of internet radio programs (podcasts) centered around our hobby - which one is your favorite and why? In your opinion, which do you feel best keeps you up to date on the latest in o gauge railroading as either an operator, collector or both? Why is it your hands down favorite?

how do i listen to a podcast? Do I need special equipment? Can I get it on my macbook?
I didn't know there were RR podcasts.
Clem and Mikatt1, a podcast is simply an audio program or series of programs broadcast on the internet which can be easily accessed on any computer. Do a google search (or use any other search engine) for model railroading podcast (or any other topic you're innterested in) and then click on the one(s) you'd like to hear. Only thing required to listen to suh internet radio programming is a computer. That's it, nothing else needed. There are also specialized videocasts, a few of which require you have the free program Skype installed on your computer. You can also subscribe to many podcasts that offer RSS feeds and all new episodes of those series will automatically be sent to your computer for your listening enjoyment. Best yet, such programming is FREE!!!
Ken...
I had no idea there were podcasts on model railroading. Do you have any suggestions as to what some good ones are?
I listened to a few, but only a couple of times. None impressed me
Clem you can use iTunes to find podcasts
Never knew they existed but why not. The internet is infinite.
i have checked out a few but nothing great, and i have yet to find a o scale podcast
I checked out a few, no big deal.
Ken gets the award for the longest thread title ever!
I only listen to podcasts from "MotorSport Magazine".

Yes but atleast you know what the post is about.
Some of our posters would have used some form of
Have you every... or Have You... or maybe even H...
That being said I didn't know they existed so I will check them out.
I listen to:
Model Railcast Show: http://www.modelrailcast.com/
The Scotty Mason Show: http://themodelrailroadpodcast.com/
Model Railroad Hobbyist:
http://ax.itunes.apple.com/us/...hobbyist/id375253882
While they are largely oriented towards HO and N, there is a lot of useful info and techniques that apply to O. Some of the shows do ramble a bit, so they are best listened to while commuting, working on the layout, doing yard work, etc.
I subscribe to all 3 (Free) on iTunes. iTunes will download all new episodes and sync them to an iPod or iPhone. You can also manually select old episodes to download.
Other listening options are:
Play them on your computer using iTunes
Play them on your computer directly from their websites (MRS and TSMS only: click the listen button)
To find and play podcasts in iTunes:
Download and launch iTunes (google itunes to find it)
Click iTunes Store in the left column
Type your search term "model railroad" or "scotty mason" in the search box in the
upper right corner
Click the Subscribe Free button to subscribe, and/or the Free buttons just to download individual old episodes
To find your downloaded episodes, click the Podcast button in the left column
Double click the podcast name, then the episode name
To sync podcasts to your iPhone or iPod:
Connect your device with the white usb cable
Click on your device in the left column in iTunes
Click the tab marked Podcasts
Select the Podcasts that you want to sync (may also select options for how many episodes to keep on your device)
Click the Apply button
Your device will sync any new episodes each time you connect it
Enjoy!
Bob
"If you've never listened to such podcasts, then why not???"
Not a pod person!!! Much prefer to listen to my Django Reinhardt and Art Tatum collections.
Pete
Why haven't I listened to a model railroad podcast? I never would have imagined such a thing existed. That said, if I want to listen to something train related, it'll be one of my albums of prototype recordings.
Bob... Thanks for the pointers. I will give them a try.
Thank you everyone

Another great one is model rail radio (www.modelrailradio.com) we use skype to call into the program, The Nesxt show will be recorded live this Saturday Afternoon/evening (depending on your time zone). It is an all scale podcast and I have talked about 3-rail o gauge on the show already. I will be on the Call discussing the HO scale Free-mo layout at Grand Rapids National Train Show. Older shows are also avaliable free from I-tunes

Yes but at least you know what the post is about.
Some of our posters would have used some form of
Have you every... or Have You... or maybe even H...
I'll agree with you 100% on that!!!
I'm afraid I do not. I have about 200 GB of music on my computer. I have to apportion my listening hours judiciously!
Besides, could these podcasts be more entertaining and informatrive than this Forum?? Plus, no avatars!
