I have a Lionel 6-28648 0-6-0 Docksider that will only run in reverse. Does anyone know if the body/boiler shell can be removed without taking apart all the running gear and going in from the bottom. There are 2 screws at the back of the cab, but I see no way to disconnect the front of the boiler to lift it off the chassis. I suspect the e-unit board might be bad, but I want to check for broken wires before I order one. I'd like to repair it myself because I can see the repair tab at a service center being more than the locomotive cost ($80) me in the first place. I just don't want to disassemble all the running gear only to find there was an easier way to get at the electronics.

Thanks!

Tom

1st question is to make sure you didn't lock it in one direction with one of the 3 switches on the bottom.  The instructions say that it's suppose to default back to forward after x-amount of time, but I have found that mine doesn't.  It's actually random which direction it chooses to go after it has sat.  It has done some other funky things too, but I still love the little locomotive.

John, the TMCC idea peaks my interest.  Does that include sounds, or just command control?  I'd love to add sound to it, as it has turned out to be my only soundless modern locomotive.
