I am curious as to the history behind Lionels choice of advertisements on their postwar 310 billboard advertisements like this Sunoco ad which is one of my favorites. Except for this 310 billboard ad I have not seen a real life example of this particular ad and it’s mystery service attendant. Any information or thoughts on the subject of Lionel choices for ads?

Just guessing, licensing fees paid by the companies? Lionel did this with other items such as the Sunoco tankers. and having GM and others pay for tooling costs for the F3.

Very cool stuff guys! Many thanks.
Ed- Great link to that billboard website! I just might have to get a few more frames and print a few.
I remember watching a video of the late Frank Petruzzo where he mentions owning some rare Pre-War billboards that were made for Standard Gauge. I think they were some kind of premium but I forget the companies they were associated with.
Lionel also put free sheets of the billboards in train sets. No frame just the sheets. Don
