Was doing some research and found this gem sitting in a park just soaking up the sun in Conneaut Ohio... anyone know plans for the 755? Looks to be in good shape from the outside....

Or is it too far gone?

Sorry if this was posted / discussed before, so little information about it.

The 755 would need a LOT of work to run again, and the museum has no plans to do so.

She has no superheaters - they went into the 765 many years ago and have long since worn out and been replaced again. The locomotive has been sitting outside for almost 50 years and has never been moved.

I don't know what her internals are like, but the museum has done a nice job of keeping her cosmetically nice.

Through reading books on these locomotives.I have found them to very good locomotive.Theres even a fare size live steam model in brittian I think.I am saprised to how many railroads had them.To the nyc berkshire were the odd ball looking locomotive to me.I know erie had them.I think the DT&I and the IC had a few. Here in north carolina the norfolksouthern had a few called baby berkshires.

The NYC had Berkshires (yes, I know about those P&LE disasters)? I also don't recall the IC having any Berkshires either. Both the NYC and IC had LOTS of 4-8-2 Mountain types however. You forgot about the C&O K-4 class, also.

I visited 755 in 2009 for the first time. Considering she has been outside all this time she is in outstanding cosmetic condition.

A cool thing is that the cab is fully tricked out and I think it was set up that way by former NKP steam men. There are two mannequins too.

Nice museum chock full of cool stuff.

Definitely go. They would love the business.

The Berkshires really fit a niche with the roads that operated them, and they performed.  The NKP really got their money out of them and then some with the way the hustled freight.  And when you look at the lines of the Berks they are just great looking.

Here are a couple more of the 755 during her career...

there are at least a dozen Jim Kreider design Berkshires (1.5" scale) running around the country today with just as many in various stages of construction.
