MTH is definitely behind Lionel and Atlas, in terms of your typical long, modern tank cars. Even the Weaver 50ft tank cars are a better bet than anything MTH makes.

I agree on the atlas I have the 33,000 gl tank cars and they are great only thing thou be careful they will not handle smaller curves and I'm thinking it needs to be O-54 for some reason they might do O-42 but I'm thinking O-54 as that's the smallest curves I have now and remember I went to that for some reason.
note: just went to Atlas O website and the largest tank car they have now is 25,500 GL tank car requires O-54
