Good evening all from Dresden, Germany...

I know it is a bit early for most of you still but here it is a bit past 8:00 PM and I have just cracked open a beer and completed the first run of what I am sure will be many more tonight of my new and still-in-the-planning stages loft layout. I just laid the track out so far and will be tweaking it once more track arrives, for now though I have an inner loop with 31" curves and the outer features 42". Inner loop has one siding. The engine which had the honor of taking the inaugural lap is my lowly PW 1055 Texas Special...this engine though was the first in my collection that I acquired all on my own as a kid in the eighties...my Grandpa had given me his old 671 and a Prewar 636W (both of which I still have)  but this 1055 was the only one I could afford at age 12... no reverse, no magne-traction, no power...but who cares...the thing just runs and runs!

Many more plans and trains to unpack but I could not wait any longer and decided tonight was going to include the rumble of trains in the house! More will come later on progress but for now I wish you all a great weekend and look forward to reading more here on the forum to keep inspired...this is such a fantastic site and every time I am on it I feel like I am back home!

Best Regards and Cheers!

Walt

Oh, I don't know. There was a long period in my life when things were typically much better than this on any given Friday night. This changed in my mid-50's - why wasn't this in the Handbook? Who's idea was this? Friday nights weren't supposed to deteriorate into trains and beer - which I don't even like!

I want my money back. And my hair.
