Looking at the prototype images, it appears most domed passenger cars had a tint to the glass, make sense given otherwise they would be like an oven. However, none of the K-Line nor MTH dome top cars I have this feature, clear glass all around.

As anyone tinted the windows in their dome top passenger cars? If so how, what products have produced a good result?

Thanks,

Jason

Tamiya clear are "fragile" and do not take well to handling.  You may want to consider disassembly and painting the underside of the dome.  The "smoke" color is a neutral density gray and works well for window tinting.  A few drops of clear blue or green can shade the gray.  One problem you may have is the tinted dome will make the clear side windows stand out.

I'd 100% agree with painting the inside of the dome as to protect the tint.....but properly prepped and painted Tamiya lacquer paint is pretty tough.  It dries much harder than any enamel I have ever used.  Tamiya acylic bottle water based paint is easily damaged and I use it only when I have to.

The tint in dome glass was a sheet of PVB plastic between two sheets of glass.  The product was made by Monsanto for many years.  It came in many colors but the one most commonly used in passenger cars was called "bronze".  It was a dark sort of olive green, Very close to oxidized bronze.  AMT used blue, but I could never figure out what the prototype was.
