Dorfan Gears

Should not the gears be brass?You know what happened when Lionel used fiber gears in their locos.

Almost all but the armature gear on Dorfan were fiber.

        From what I have seen, these gears are as close to original as possible. They are new, but may be 10 + years old . I thought they might possibly renew some shelf pieces. Not trying to reinvent the wheel, just provide parts.  Harry

Thanks for posting this info- I just ordered one of the 25x42 compound gears. I recently purchased a Dorfan 53 that was complete except for this gear and the couplers, so that was exactly what I was looking for. The motor works and everything else is there so I think it will be a runner. It's one of the later versions with the roller bearings, and happily the cast shell halves are in very good condition and the wheels are not bad.  Some photos are attached posed with a Dorfan 51. 

Hi Harry, I just ordered a couple of the Dorfan gears you mention above. I am also interested in the Driver wheels for the Dorfan Narrow Gauge Locomotives (Models 51, 52, 53 and 55).  Do you know if and where these might be available?  Do you know if all these Dorfan locomotives use the same wheels?
