Hi Everyone,

A random idea came to me whilst meandering around my layout this past weekend: double-head my Vision Big Boy and Southern Pacific Cab Forward.

The front coupler swap on the Cab Forward was quite easy (a simple screw holds the coupler in place), so the swap took less than 5 minutes.

The sound of these two articulated giants in unison is fantastic, so wanted to share with you all:

Please select 1080p for optimal viewing quality.

Enjoy!!

Michael

Hahah, it would be interesting to see what the limit is.  Unfortunately I don't have enough cars in my fleet, nor do I have the space to run a train that long!

Hahaha, thanks for the comment, Sam.  Granted it is not my ideal set-up, but for the time being, I think my "carpet empire" is pretty cool.  It allows me to run pretty much any engine I want (with an O-72 outer-loop).

I love the 844, I picked it up from a fellow forum member a few weeks back and it has become one of my favorites!

Best,

Michael

Very true!  In the third segment of the video, the smoke output was set on low, and both locomotives emitted quite a prodigious amount of smoke.

I use Mega Steam (coal scent) for my steamers...my wife absolutely detests the scent, so it is not often I operate my steamers with the units on.

Thanks for the comment!

David,

Could not agree with you more.  The sound sets are sublime on both engines.  The Cab Forward is particularly unique as the engine emits all sorts of clanks (for lack of a better term) and steam releases whilst traversing the track.  Just a wonderful symphony of some good old steam power!!

Thanks for watching.
