I will be there.  I think most of the gang will be there as well.  We like to meet for breakfast at The Verdict at 7:00 AM.  It's a great way to start off the day.  Should be a good show this week as we are all used to the snow and cold by now.  Could be a little snow but nothing big is forecast.

The Verdict is on the northwest corner of Roosevelt Rd & County Farm Rds in Wheaton.

38 and CFR, I always come via 38...guess I never paid attention - was probably thinking of what I was looking for at the show.

I used to go every month in the late 80s to mid 90s.I bought a good amount of the Lionel items I always wanted at their shows.Now that I have all the model trains I was looking for,I only go to the Wheaton show once every few years.It is still fun when I go,but being saturated on model trains makes the effort for the trip very infrequent now.My Dad is still goes for the hunt almost every month.

I was a regular attendee of this show for 14 years, and if I still lived in the area, I would continue to go. Like Art said, I primarily went for the social aspects. I would have breakfast with the group at 7:00 AM where we had some wonderful train conversations.

At the show, every now and then, you could find something to bring home. I got my drumhead there and I have never seen anything like this at any other show, including the York Meet that I love.

If you live in the Chicagoland area and do not go to breakfast at the Verdict Restaurant with the boys, you are missing a very good time.

Jeff, just got back from Dupage!

A lot of empty tables in every building!

I haven't been there in over a year but is normal or was it too cold for the sellers to come out?

Sure seems there was a lot of American Flyer sellers set up in the big building(#1), from parts to sets.

Did pick up a Lionel V transformer and a couple O gauge UCS track sections.

I too, got back from DuPage. My mission today was to get a lead truck for my cousin's American Flyer Pacific. And a cheap transformer as her's doesn't work. So she's set for next Christmas as she dutifully sets up her train every year under the tree. Mission accomplished.

Oh, and I picked up a Dept. 56 thingie for myself. Not a building, but a fishing boat. Go figure.

There were some tables empty that usually aren't.  Apparently the weather scared them away.  Was a very good show though in my opinion.  The people that were there more than made for the ones that couldn't make it.  Majority of my train buddies were there.   Saw a lot of bargains and probably should have bought more of them.

Disappointed in how poorly the fairgrounds was plowed after the last snow though.

Just like everything else, some people see the glass as half full and others as half empty.  With all the excellent vendors that are there every month like Merlyn from Caboose Stop in Cedar Falls, Iowa, it is always a great show.  There are many others and anyone that wouldn't like this show has different ideas of what constitutes a good show than I do.  I feel very fortunate that we have such a high quality show to attend every month.

It still is one of the best monthly shows out there! But just surprised on how many empty tables there were.

Maybe the weather and what month has something to do with it, but a month past Christmas and the middle of winter, it is train season! Time to sell!

AS for the plow job, the lower lot wasn't plowed from yesterdays snow. When leaving had to back up a few times to get a running start to get out of the aisle!

I'm still not sure who I met at the breakfast, even though I was 20min late, but I was glad I went!

Moderator- We need "OGR" hats for us or something...my BSA hat{boy scouts, not the cycle} was one of a kind- but I could use something more train related.

It was another full bag day for me-

-Artista figure for my Marx forklift since a lionel one was the same cost{that's almost sad in itself}=$6

-Combo buy, MTH plow/Wrecker crane{no key}/tanker=$20

-Brand new K-line double green lense buz type signal tower=$20{cool}

-lionel dumping action hopper car=$15{cheaper than "eb  "...somewhere}

-dozen telephone poles=$5

-lionel chessie hicube boxcar{I like those hicubes}=$15

..and this one that I never knew exsisted...a"Plymouth" boxcar -sweet! All I need now is a 1/50th '40 plymouth sedan to put in it...yeah, that'll happen after I find/win an MTH Zephyr add-on car...that isn't an arm and a leg{$50+}.

todays haul 001

todays haul 002

todays haul 003

..the only shortcoming here is the plow is missing 3 thing on the roof- one I can figure is a brake wheel, the rest...?

crane 001

I like the lil treasures and bargins...

Burlington Route,

          Are you looking for a Railking Zephyr Coach. I should have one that I removed from my Zephyr when I bought it  12 years ago. I like the original train better. I removed the rear motor and put in chairs instead, so there is no going back to using the coach, as the one power truck probably would't pull it. You can have it free, but I have to look through my boxes to find it. I live in Woodridge and usually go to the Dupage Show, but not today. TOOOOCOLD.
