Not surprised. The winter had very little snow so things are very dry. There is a big fire in Ute Park as well. No impact on trains as the one that were there ceased operations over a century ago.

But the news release should have just said:
1. We are sorry, but due to fires and other conditions, X and Y railroads will be out of service until August 3.
2. All tickets will be refunded. Please wait up to 10 business days for a refund to show up on your bank or credit statement.
3. At this time all events August 4TH and beyond are uneffected. Please check the website for updates.
Plain, simple info for families. No used car salesperson talk. Which I think is not appropriate for this situation.
This fire is reported as doubled in size, but no more details on the national news...and l haven't even gotten to the Smokies to see the damage of the Gatlinburg fire.
