Just had 2 dz-2500 switch machines on the same loop, make a popping sound and smoke. They are both dead now. Very strange to me that both went at the same time. Both hooked up to AIU, and separate power. Anyone ever heard of this?

Probably could use more info. First time using them, or been working before? What voltage are you using? Any derailments at the same time or just before? Are all the wires attached somewhere and if not, left bare?
I've smoked a couple during testing after install - poor wiring. Smoked one when I had the voltage too high before using a separate transformer.
I installed them over a year ago, they have been working completely fine. The voltage is just high enough to operated correctly without it catching or anything. No derailments prior to or during the run through when it popped. Any wires not attached, cut and covered with tape. It was just really bizarre. The train was running over the switch when it happened.
Sounds like a short; were you using the non-derailing feature on the DZ-2500Cs?
