Dz1000 doesn’t work

Two years ago we had very same experience with the same new switch. One out of nine ordered. Had to order a replacement to correct situation. 

Is your DZ-1002 controller mounted on a metal plate ?  I have a flock of controllers where the board solder connections extend beyond the rear plane of the controller and short on the metal plate.  The symptoms are random depending on which contracts short.

The first ting I would try is:  Remove the spring between the switch machine and switch throw bar.  Test it.  You might have something putting it in a bind.

If that does not work, I use a test setup, see attached picture.  I do not use the 1008 push buttons, I use momentary toggle switches with leds.  This is explained on the DZ web site.  Make sure you test with 14VAC.

If the switch machine does not work, take it to Dennis Zander, booth CC10, Orange Hall, York.  Put it in a small plastic bag, label it as inop, stick your card inside, and give it to him.  Z-Stuff will correct the problem and get it back to you.  

I always maintain spares, never know when something will happen.  Good luck.

Steve & Bruce, the remote is mounted similar to others, on homeasote. I will test the remote and the switch motor next time I get home. Thanks for the suggestions.

There is a limit switch inside the DZ1000.  A new DZ1000 that does not throw completely  may not activate the limit switch properly.   Green switch middle of picture.   Right throw, second picture Left throw.  Other problem is the green, red and yellow wires break off where they are soldered.  Dennis Z will replace those that don't work, return them.
