In the back of the book 50 years of gm locomotives are your diagrams of e8, gp and sd locos. I believe it was published by kalmbach.
There's a lot of YouTube videos from the cab of IRM's E5, CB&Q's Silver Pilot. Check those out and see if you can catch a glimpse of the cabinets.

Please provide more information, as I've not heard of this book, and can find no information about it.
Dave,
why don't you contact the Levins at Juniata Terminal Co for a photo, or visit their website about their restored pair of E8s.
This Wikipedia link has a restricted engineer's side photo. Sorry not the back wall.
There is a door to the engine room behind the engineman ' seat.... Very noisily walk through when these things were wound up. (downright scary) PS I hated the middle seat.
This may be an F-unit but I suppose they're very similar to an E.
The URHS in Boonton, NJ have a NYC E8 and the CSRM in Sacramento, CA have an SP E8. Maybe someone near one of those two locations could be of some assistance. And there is always the PRR E7 at the Pennsy Museum in Strasburg, PA. There aren't any E units down here in Houston or else I would try to get some cab shot for you.
You can get somewhat of a glimpse of a back wall here:

Do you or your buddy Jerry Z. possibly have such diagrams or photos of just the back wall? (I already have all of the overhead diagrams.) I'm more interested in the E8's at this time. I'm gonna scour youtube once more for a candid screenshot, but alas, I may need to go see if I know anyone with shop access at Spencer to go inside their E8 and take a quick picture or two. Sadly the B&O RR Museum in Baltimore does not apparently have an E8 in the collection. That is the closest big museum to me.
Dave:
Go to the following link:
http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/manual/e8-om-2.pdf
On page 316 of the above manual is a photo of the #1 and #2 electrical cabinet. You are interested in the #1 cabinet.
The innards of the #1 EC are on page 317.
A top view layout of the E8 exists on page 201.
Further detail of the various panels exist on page 505.
The B&O museum DOES have a nice cut-away model of an E8, and here is a link that kinda sorta shows the back wall of the cab.

Might be worth a trip to see it.
I've looked thru the web to try to find something, and The B&O cut-away was about the only thing I found other than the Operator's Manual.
regards,
Jerry

I think you and I were looking at the same pic at the same time.

It's a late F7 or early F9. (It could be a variant, e.g., FP7, FL9.) There would be two differences you would immediately see on an E8:
- The control stand would be the E8 style illustrated in the EMD E8 Operation Manual, and
- The E8 rear cab wall would not go straight across, as does the F-unit. The center section was forward of the outer sections.
