I have recently returned to the hobby, after a10 year hiatus. Started running trains, and found my 2349 NP GP9 to be stuck in neutral, with a buzzing e-unit. Not wanting to mess with my post war classic, I took it to Robbie's Hobbies in Columbus, Ohio, supposedly an authorized Lionel Repair Station.  I told them I just wanted it cleaned up, and not to replace the e-unit. The repair guy called the following Wed. and told me he cleaned it up , and it was running. I said fine, paid $30, and took it home. Put it on the track, and it ran, but only in one direction, and no neutral setting. The repairman had obviously just bypassed the e-unit. I called the store, and they said bring it back, but I'm a little leary of giving it back to a repairman that obviously lied to me, and thought I wouldn't notice what he did. Any suggestions?

Genius post! That was the problem.

thanks.

I’m glad CK helped you figure out your issue, and you were able to get that 2349 running as it should. BUT...ya think ya might have jumped the gun just a wee bit by throwing Robbie’s Hobbies under the bus? ......I’m a million miles away from Robbie’s Hobbies, don’t know them, don’t know I ever will. Small brick and mortar hobby shops are falling off the face of the earth....your initial post about them lying to you, and tampering with your locomotive was evidently wrong (thanks to CK) ......so you didn’t have a “problem” you had operator error......if this were my post, I’d either apologize to the folks that fixed your loco, or edit my initial post.....not trying to be mean, and again, I’m glad your up and running, but give the credit where credit is due.............Pat
