I ordered an early MTH 392e off Ebay about a week ago and it just came in yesterday. I was disappointed when I put it on the track and it made some horrific noises while the brushes sparkled like the 4th. of July. Tore it down and found that the armature was contacting the frame, the commutator looks a bit warped as well. I put some washers on the end of the armature to shim it up a bit but it ran the same. Going to try and smooth out the commutator to-day, but I have a feeling the windings might be fried.

I found some new windings online, but they're $100. Does anyone here have any, or know where to get one that's a bit more reasonable?
