I sell my trains on Ebay and the service they provide to me justifies the charges they collect.  My year end statement of sales gives me an accurate record that any financial institution will accept.  The taxes collected by Ebay saves me hiring an accountant to deal with all 50 states.  The automated reminders when sales occur helps me keep organized and get packages out quickly.  As an Ebay Seller I get a discount on USPS, UPS and FEDEX fees of about 25%.  Larger cartons get less of a discount.  I am not a retail store, but a life-long train collector selling off my collection.  Ebay also offers sellers some protection from buyers who might attempt games with their purchases.  Regular reminders are sent to buyers to remind them to pay.  Buyers also get protection from any errors that Sellers could make or packages that get lost in the mail.  Overall, it is a service that allows me to earn more than handing my trains over to a reseller or auction house. Money from sales is deposited directly into my bank account either daily or weekly at my choice.  There are many ways to sell your trains.  I have had success the last four years using Ebay's services.
