AMEN.

I have NEVER paid any attention to the arrows on the floor. Have we become so dumbed down that we have to rely on arrows on the floor to tell us which way to walk? Good grief.   The crowds these days are no where near large enough to warrant "traffic cops" in the orange hall.

As for the weather forecasts...I've been an active commercial pilot since 1983. As a pilot, accurate weather forecasts are important to me. I can tell you without any reservation whatsoever that aviation weather forecasting was more accurate back in the 80s and 90s when flight service station staffers actually went outside and OBSERVED the weather. Today it is all automated with wind speed and direction sensors, infrared sensors, temperature sensors and the like feeding into a huge network of computers. The forecasting accuracy is not what is used to be...not by a long shot.

For April 2014 York on Thursday (which is the only day I attended), there were times folks could have driven a small CAR down some of the aisles in the Orange Hall and not hit anyone!!!    Foot traffic was that light.

Hopefully things will dry out for Thursday afternoon as well.  Current forecast is only calling for some left-over showers Thursday morning.  Maybe we'll get all the wet stuff out of the way earlier in the week.

David

Look if it is crowded in the aisle then I'm not going to force myself to go down an aisle.

I never look at the arrows, I look at the aisle and make my decision then.

I have been been going to York since 1985 and believe me it is not as crowded today as it was back then.

so all this talking about following the Arrows is for nothing.

I just love the old woman on the PA system reminding everyone to follow the arrows. She reminds me of my elementary school secretary making the morning announcements. Now chuld- WREN, yEW must fah- LOW the AAA -rowS.....

The first 20 times on Thursday were amusing, after that it started to get a little old.

I usually split the building in half.  I go to the left and hit the left hand tables and the little side room where Train World is set up and then work my way up and down the isle until I make it to the center isle and then make a U turn and head up the next isle.  The only time I've seen a problem with the arrows is when two wheelchairs try to go in opposite directions.

In the Orange hall they don't serve much purpose (and in fact are only on a few rows) the members hall would be kind of nasty without them. That said I did get clipped in April by some guy in a power chair who had no qualms about going against the arrows pressing through people.

Made me wish I could have reached the off switch on it

IMHO, they have cut way back on the use of the PA system. If a lot of "follow the arrows" announcements were made, I didn't notice.

Maybe if people cooperated and followed the arrows, there wouldn't be so many.

I guess people need to have something negative to say about the show.

We're bringing our brand-new OGR Bowling Set to this show. We plan to set it up in the center aisle. There will be room...

David

It could be worse.

York could be in central Florida! Try predicting the weather there!   ( I know, it will rain, but it's timing it that's tough!)
