Jack, My cars should be in Willow Springs sometime Sunday afternoon.  Can you hop over there and intercept 'em?

Or at least make sure they are not kicking the boxes around.

I'm thinking of going to Horseshoe Curve on Sunday and wave to mine as they go by!

Maybe you will laugh when you tell this story - later.  Meanwhile here's a tip of my hat for your continuing top-notch commitment to excellent products and service.

Well, after a very long day, they're finally here! So am I first???

Only got around to briefly boxing a few of these at 9:30pm local. Great way to end the day.
Anyway, because I know how much everyone loves photos and have been especially anticipating these here are some taken in the haste of my quick look over the cars this evening.
I'll admit for the past two days I thought the 6 Tracking numbers I was provided was an error, perhaps the shipment was double booked. Happily, no, turns out there really were 6 separate boxes!! I had basically opted for a complete consist: getting the RPO car and 3 additional coaches. I figure an opportunity like this doesn't come along all that often to be passed up! Except of course when a 2nd run is offered...

At any rate enjoy these until those more photo-savvy than me get a hold of theirs.

If anyone would like to see something a bit more clearly, hit me up and I can see if I grab some additional photos to hold you over! These really do look marvelous.

I am very excited to shoot some video of the full consist like my War Time 1947 The Chief!

http://youtu.be/K5WzRiw8HAY

Or the 1951 Super Chief. By the way the baggage and RPO are carbon copies in the El Cap. Makes perfect sense the 51 SC cars are the new benchmark for their price point and utilize the same level of detail and accuracy as the new El Cap.

A home run Scott! Thank you so much.image

Looking through my emails tonight, I received great news from the folks at Sunset/GGD... They have an 8-car set that became available from the initial production run!    So I gave them the go-ahead to process the credit card a couple of hours ago.

Since I sent in my official reservation after the deadline, it's been touch-and-go as to whether I'd actually get a set from the initial production run.  Originally I snuck in under the wire with a surprise confirmation as the last set of the first run, but then my order went back on standby due to a computer glitch.  Those boundary conditions will get ya everytime!    So tonight's email was a pleasant surprise, indeed.

I still have 4 more ala carte cars on order that will most likely get fulfilled from the second production run, which is fine by me.  But if any of them frees up from the initial production run, I'll take 'em early too.

Jim I had watched that video, but just watched it again to check out the gaps. It looks like there is a gap between the standard level cars, baggage and dorm, but the high level cars look like they are pretty darn close. Hard to tell for sure.

Can't imagine they would be much different than the Super Chief set which are very close, and that's that why I didn't convert to Kadee, just removed the tacks. Hand painting all the diaphragms stiffened them up, and because they are so close together, it was a small issue in the curves. Gonna experiment with spraying the silver this time to keep it thin.

If you run your cars on bigger than 072 curves, Kadee's won't be an issue. I do run them on 072 and had to open up the ends of the draft gear box to get maximum swing so the cars wouldn't derail.

I'll just have to wait til I have them in my hands to decide, but after converting my Daylight cars to Kadee..... I really don't want to hassle with that again.
