I need help, I went on the Electric RR company website looking to see what I would need to convert a Williams E8 to TMCC. I am probably dumb on this but what is needed to do a simple command conversion? Is this an easy conversion? I really don't care about adding railsounds to this loco? Any help appreciated. Thanks

Did you try calling them? They are VERY helpful folks.
Give them a call, and talk with Ken. He will steer you in the right direction, or so others have posted here, in days gone by!
Please give us some info from what you find out, as it's been a long time since talking with those folks. I still can't make up my mind on TMCC or PS-3 up grade!...............................
If it's DC motors, I would get the Cruise Commander. You might see if there is any way to include electro couplers also. I put at least one on the front of a Williams E7 once.
Ok Thanks for the help everyone.
Yup, Cruise Commander and if you want sound get the Railsounds Commander with E8/9 programming.
This is what I put in my Weaver E8s and it works great.
The Williams E8 should accept standard couplers, so the electrocouplers will bolt right on I believe.
Is it better to have two speakers for each e8 or just the one? After all the e8 had two motors inside.
I can tell you that two sixteen ohm fatboys will really boom out the sound with the proper baffle, I just worked on one for a 2-10-4 and they are really LOUD!
If you really wanted two motor sounds, you'd have to have two sound cards.

My two Weaver E8s are both powered with dual motors each. I put separate command and sound boards in them and run them in a lash-up. Each has just one speaker. I generally reserve two speakers for steamers. But that's just my preference.
I have installed the DC Cruise Commander and Railsounds Commander in a MTH PS1 F3 set, along with other ERR products I have installed in Weaver and MTH steamers. Found it all simple to do and very pleased with the results. Yes, have spoken with Ken on the phone for questions I had, very pleasant and informative. IMHO, ERR and TMCC for Weaver, Williams, etc. engines is best way to go.
