Hello everyone,

I recently bought a Williams Southern Pacific FM and noticed that it may be a earlier version where it does not have a E unit installed just a rectifier to go in one direction.

My question is if I wanted to install a e unit in it should I use a Williams product or could I use a Lionel electronic E unit? If a Lionel what should I look for or part number?

Thank you for your help.

bigkid,

Yes doing conventional. Thanks i will look into Dallee.

FWIW, Get the Electric Railroad by 3rd Rail and purchase the Cruise Commander M. you Want to do this because:

1] those non fly wheeled Mabuchi can motors STOP on a DIME- potentially derailing the rest of the train behind it. The Cruise commander somewhat fixes that without motor replacement.

2] you can easily add the Railsounds FM board to it and

https://soundcloud.com/rrsounds/fm

3] should you decide to resell it with cruise M and Railsounds, you can ask for a higher premium than a conventional Dalee board.

Do your research! Don't be a penny wise yet a dollar foolish!
