I just got my EM-1 this week and boy am I thrilled. Just over the moon here. Looking at the side of the fire box there are “things” that stick out 3 on one side and 4 on the other. I have seen this things on other big steam engines, but a google search of thing/ object attached to outside of steam engine fiber box did not return any useful results.
So...
# 1 what are these things ?
#2 other than throwing up my hands here and shouting in to the void help! What would be a good resource to look up this kind of information, book recommendations?
Its a case of well if I knew what it was called I could look it up better!
