I have a number of Miller Engineering signs that. I am getting ready to install.  I would rather not cut any holes in the roof to run the ribbon cable down to the circuit board.

I was wondering if anyone knows of a commercially available box that would be large enough to hold the circuit board and ribbon cable.  If I can hide it all in a box then all I need to do is run the 2 wire power feed to the unit.  I don't have the exact measuremtns handy right now but I am guessing it would be something like 2"l x 1"w x 2"h approx. I though I could disguise a box to look like a roof AC unit or something similar.

Thanks,

Ed

I just finished making two boxes out of bass wood and painted them black. Extremely simple rectangular box. I'm running them on the millers dc converter. This way I can swap around. I made one larger one that runs on the batteries. I can pick it up and move anywhere. The batteries last quite awhile if you can remember to turn them off...I often forget.

They also sell small unfinished wooden boxes, which I have used for battery operated Miller signs.

I don't see these 2 examples of mine being useful for roof tops but thought I would show you 2 of the items mentioned above which I used last year to make bases.  Both the wood box and the cardboard circular box were from Michael's.

This was a jewelry box for $1.  I removed the hinges and front hasp lock.  I also cut out the screen.  I landed up having to widen the opening around the perimeter.  The part with the screen became the bottom of the base which I glued to the main body of the box.  I then sliced a hole thru the top of the glued base (the top is actually the bottom of the box as shown in this picture).  I do NOT use the battery holder so it was snipped off.  There was barely enough room to fit everything.

This is the round cardboard container.  To lower the base, which had plenty of room to hold everything, I cut off a ring to lower it.  Then a 2nd one to lower it some more.  Finally did a 3rd one to lower it yet again.  I used the lid, shown here, as the base after I painted it concrete color (it's not painted yet in this picture).
