End of an era with my current layout........

A move can open up a whole lot of new things for you to try, plus stick with those things you like about this layout.  I have admired your layout and memorabilia.  I wish you well on you move.

Where in Pennsylvania are you moving?  We could become neighbors or we could be a 6 or 7 hour drive apart.

That is a great looking set up, but building a new one is always a ton of fun.

Say it ain't so Joe! I've always enjoyed seeing photos of your classic layout. One of the best!! 

I agree with others when they say a move is fun in that you will get to build a new layout in the future!

Congratulations on deciding to move to the right side of the river! I live in southern Carbon, and spend a lot of time in Berks, and both areas are a good choice!

Bummer about the move but I understand with the taxes. 

Wow, just looking at all the stuff you have to pack makes me tired. It was over six years ago when we did it. It's not easy. We sold our house in 30 days but didn't find a new house to buy so we had to rent and move twice. This is the container in front of the rental house that held all are treasures. Hope all goes well and you find your dream home and start your new railroad soon. Don

If the layout and collection hasn't been in OGR why don't you submit it to Allan. Looks like it would be a good article. Don

Hopefully you will have more space in your new house for your new layout.  I've had to tear down and start over four times.  It's a pain but you learn from previous mistakes.

We just moved last Friday to Jackson, NJ after being in Howell, NJ for 31 years. Took me 2 weeks to pack up and box all my trains, etc and another few days to dismantle the 17 x 8 layout. I negotiated about 250 to 300 feet of train shelving that I need to build to display the trains. No layout here yet as I am 3 miles from my club. Www.ocsmr.com. 

FYI re Pennsylvania, in choosing a place of residence, research your local taxes. Depending on the municipality, each one is different on taxing your 401k contribs along with your paycheck. The 401k tax does NOT happen in NJ for sure! And if you work in PA as well, the municipality where you work will tax you on your paycheck too!

I can't imagine having to pack up everything and move, good luck. Hate to see that beautiful layout and room go, but hopefully you'll have an even better space to start over with.

i think he's going to need a bigger one, or even both of them......
