I look forward to publishing material on your NEW layout once you get settled and ready for some railroading again. I know a bit about this moving "stuff" myself since I recently sold my condo to get a real "train room." Closing on that condo sale was actually scheduled to take place today, but I was informed an hour ago that it has been delayed until Friday or possibly Monday. In the meantime, ALL of my trains are jam-packed in a climate-controlled storage unit and all of my household possessions are being temporarily stored in the garage of the place I am buying (had that condition put in the contract to avoid paying for multiple moves). Still waiting for a closing date on the new home, but it should be soon.

The new residence will have a 26 x 13 basement train room and a lounge area (with fireplace) directly across on the opposite end of the basement. The whole train room/lounge area will be getting extensive renovation before construction on a layout begins, but there eventually there will be a combination O/On30 layout there to keep me busy for my remaining days, months, or years (to be chosen by a higher power).

Keep us posted as your move (and train room hunt) progresses, Joe! Best of luck with the whole packing/house hunting/buying/etc. experience.

Hey Joe:

First, all the best with your move. Even if everything goes perfect (and it never does) moving is a pain in the *&^*. I have had 27 different addresses in my life. We just moved into our new train room, I mean home, a month ago here in Rhode Island.

Will you have a bigger yard for your 1:1 Railroad treasures? I still owe you a beer for helping me find some items for my collection. Thanks again.

As always, your layout is a real beauty and I look forward to your next iteration in PA.

Take care Joe,

Paul

Joe, good luck on the relocation. I don't blame you one bit for moving out of New Jersey. The taxes here are killer.  I'm sure that your neighbors in Manville will miss you.  If my family was not here, ( and I was a bit younger) I would be moving to NE PA as well.  Lots of space out there, great scenery, low stress and its still affordable.  Looking at the pictures, your nice layout should be able to be transported to a new location.

Best of luck, Joe, on the move and the search for your new home.  Always enjoyed seeing pictures from your basement.  The layout had that nice "fun" aspect to it which is what the hobby is all about.  I'm sure with the move to PA you'll enjoy having all that space for your collection (not to mention the added bonus of finally being able to pump your own gas!)

A move can be good.  I used to have a G Gauge layout in my old house and had to dismantle it when we moved.  I didn't have enough room to set it up in my current house and so I decided to bring out my dad's old Lionel trains out.  I fell in love with O Gauge and so I set up a temporary layout in my current basement  until we decided to finish it.  I had my old G Gauge layout tables stored in the basement of a building that I own and have since set these tables back up in this basement.  I'm in the process of weathering and laying out the track.  I have high expectations with this new layout and plan to make it better than the G Gauge layout I had setup.  My links to my Facebook page and YouTube channel are below in my signature if anyone wants to follow my progress....

Just caught sight of this thread!  Now I understand last weeks picture post in the weekend photo fun section of your layout bare of everything except the tubular track layout boards.

Joe I have admired your layout photos immensely.  Santa bought me my first Lionel set Christmas 1947. Throughout the 50's I dreamed of a layout like this.  So was reliving childhood 1950's dreams with your images.

Joe sure will miss these images and the 50's dreams it took me back to.

Best of luck with new layout.

Ron
