I recently acquired a Legacy #990 set. When checking the engine data base to clear any possible previous engine information, I found an entry for engine number 96, after unchecking the active engines only box. The only data fields completed are Control Type-Legacy and Sound type-Legacy Railsounds. There are no other fields with data.

The rest of the numbers available are completely blank except for my engine using number 1.

Is this default data of some type? If not, can I clear it? I only see other selections in the context box from the dropdown arrows. I'd like to clear if it is possible.

Thanks.

As Bigdodgetrain mentioned, the orange module doesn't set the ID#, you choose this yourself when you program the locomotive. As your locomotive is #2001, then 1 would be a logical choice if you use the 'last 2 digits' as many of us do. Using an engine ID# of 1 won't cause any problems, but 1 is the default code that Lionel set on new locomotives at the factory, so there could be confusion if you put another brand-new locomotive on the track when this one is also present. But as long as you remember this potential for confusion, it should be OK.

Using 99 is a different matter though. Most recent Legacy locomotives will also respond to ID# 99 no matter what ID# they are programmed with. This is intentional, and can be useful at times. (Starting-up or shutting-down all of your Legacy locomotives at once for example.) So using 99 is not recommended.

Set a new ID number for the new engine following the PGM/RUN procedure in your engine manual before you load the module.

Then push ENG and the ID you gave the new engine.  Push info and load the module.  Now that information is assigned to that ENG ID.

I always set a new ID before I even worry about the module.
