I just bought a new Lionel vision line challenger 3967. Still brand new in box , never used, from 2010. Should I oil it up before using or does Lionel oil before sending out? It has been setting in box from 2010.

Definitely lubricate it after sitting for more than 10 years!
Oil it. There's little to none left even if it was oiled at the factory by now.
Thank you for your replies.
Don't forget a shot of grease in the "grease" screw hole in the bottom of each set of drivers.
I've found that Mth's recommendation of .5-1.0ml a good guide as to the amount.

what do you use to monitor the amount, and put it in the grease port? I have a syringe but this one seems hard to use, maybe it is the grease
I use a baby medicine syringe leftover from when my kids were little.
I found an assortment of applicator tips at a craft store to stick on the end if necessary.
These tips aren't as narrow as a needle so the grease flows better.
Thanks again guys. I’ll look in engine Manuel also to see what it says for recommendations, if any.
