Engine not responding to TMCC

I have an early 2000’s TMCC Lionel Dash 9 that had the flywheel magnet ring break on me. I ended up replacing the motor so I swapped everything that was connected to the original motor to the new motor but now when I power the engine up, it doesn’t respond to my tmcc commands. I placed the engine on a track only powered by a transformer and it wouldn’t run there either but the horn and bell worked when I used the transformer buttons. Any idea on what could be causing this? I don’t believe it’s my tmcc because all my other engines work as normal.
