Engine sound cuts off

Hi,

I am trying to repair a Weaver Challenger with TMCC, the RL2C, power board and sound board all test OK on the Lionel test fixture in conventional mode.

the problem is that the sound cuts off when the engine starts to move either direction in TMCC.

and pressing the directional button serveral times may or may not get the sounds back.

also there isn't any chuffing or headlight.

did a reset without any results (AUX 1 74) also Aux1 0

able to change the address though

anyone have any ideas on how to fix it?
