I mostly use 745s and many of my diesels have plows. I’ve taken to cutting the trip pins too. Even when they clear the plow on the unit on which they’re mounted the pin on an engine or freight coupled to that unit can foul on its plow, at least with the 700 series Kadees. Those pins seem longer than the 800 series.

Cutting the trip pin null and voids the delayed uncoupling action does it not?

That depends on if you are using the between the rails magnets, then the "trip pin" is a necessity, for remote uncoupling. Personally, I did NOT like the appearance of those 3-Rail uncoupling magnets, so we don't use them, i.e. the "trip pins".

How does that work with the uncoupling magnets or do you use the scewer method for uncoupling?

We prefer the "skewer" method, actually wood chop-sticks slightly sharpened in a pencil sharpener.
