Asked my two year old last night which train he wanted down (I keep the ones I have out on a bookcase in front of books.  I cycle them every couple of months.).  I have a loop of O48 inside of a loop of O72.  I set the handles on the ZW, sat in the middle, and he ran around me inside of the tracks.  And the race was on...

They enjoy the trains in their own way don't they?  My two year old grandson actually likes to watch the trains run but he prefers to pickup the automobiles and trucks and line the up outside the Christmas layout.

There is nothing like enjoying your trains through the eyes of a two year old!

I've been thinking about joing their club but I think you have to be invited or sponsored.

I don't think you need to be invited.  AZ Train Depot has a flyer in the store window inviting people to come down and join the O-gaugers.  I work with a guy that's a member of the HO club and he's never said anything about needing an invite to join (But they are different clubs.).  I know when I 1st was trying out TMCC a couple years ago, the then president of the club invited me to come over to run my locomotives to make sure they work (I didn't at the time as our schedules didn't match up.).  When next you're there, just ask them, I'm sure whoever is there will gladly be your "sponsor."

Running trains with children is a wonderful experience.  One of the things I love about this hobby is that it has so many totally different sides to it.  Playing with trains with the kids is just totally different than working on/running trains myself of with friends.  I enjoy both, a lot, but they are totally different experiences and types of fun.

My Grand Daughter is only one, so the jury is "still out" regarding if she's going to like trains. When my boys were little, I made the mistake of buying HO sets for them. The track was so finicky that the constant derailments sucked the fun out of running trains. They both lost interest very quickly.
