Eric,

I am not in a place right now to buy most of the things that you review but I find myself salivating especially with this set. I might just have to buy that boxcar after your review of it. One thing that your videos have done for me is to give me the courage to do things myself including wiring and  now some painting. Thank you for what you do.

P.S. Sorry about all the impatient followers you have... I might be one of them.

Yeah, Eric - I hate you. I have the beautiful, earlier L2a TMCC Mohawk - but now I

want the set. Saw it in the catalogue and said "no...don't need it...nope". Thanks a lot.

The NYC is my favorite (I really also need just ONE more Hudson, too), and these

early Mohawks are beautifully proportioned, especially around that big firebox girth.

$1599 is a bit high, true - though I care nothing about steaming whistles, and the NYC

modern steamers like the L2a did NOT have quillable whistles (they were servo-operated) -

but maybe I'll shop around anyway for something for which I have no room...like that's new.

Enjoyed your review - too much. (I've already got a USRA Heavy Mike on order from

Legacy Station - they don't need ALL my money.)

As I said above, I bought the loco alone.  I don't know about the sets, but the loco itself was going for steep discounts a couple of months ago.   I had not intended to buy one, but as you say they are good looking, and it is a spectacular runner with great sound.  At the price - somewhere between seven and eight, I had to snap it up.  If there are any left they might be further discounted by now.

I agree, fine review. As for the caboose, given the quality of the other cars Lionel should have included their die cast version of this caboose as its much more true to the prototype. Like Lee I was able to find the engine at deep discount. While visually identical to previous versions, operation and sound quality are a significant improvement and its becoming my favorite of my NYC steamers.
