What is needed to hook up a smoke unit to a ERR AC commander to a postwar 2055? Will the commander power the postwar smoke unit? Any help will be appreciated.

It should work just fine.
The "feature" output on the AC Commander is powered by a triac which can overheat if connected directly to a postwar smoke element having a resistance of about 16 to 18 Ohms. To avoid potential damage to your AC Commander, I would recommend modifying the smoke unit. Liquid smoke unit upgrade kits are readily available from parts vendors like the Train Tender, and they typically have a higher smoke element resistance. Be sure to check before buying. Others have recommended elements with a resistance of no less than 20 Ohms to avoid overheating problems.
Greg is correct, if you load the R2LC with a 16 ohm smoke unit, the smoke triac reaches temperatures in excess of 100C right at it's maximum ratings. More than one I've received for repair the triac was toast.
Thanks to all
the Train tender is ????
The Train Tender is a great vendor of PW parts.
Would a 27 Ohm unit perform OK ?
27 ohms is fine.
Terrific as in 'TOM'
