I recently installed a Cruise M in my scale Lionel 611 that had the factory flickering led firebox lights. I noticed after the install the the lights that used to flicker would just light up upon applying throttle and now flash like ditch lights when you use the whistle. Is there a way to change this setting in the board or is this a firmware setting?

No, the Cruise M has ditch lights in the firmware. Last time I did one, I used a pair of Evans Designs fire LED kits. Turned out really nice. Also used the Evans designs nano LEDs for the front marker lights since that function was gone as well.
Thank you for clearing that up. Sounds like it’s time to buy a kit. The front marker lights work in this engine. Before I had no control over them but now they turn on and off with the headlight when you use the aux 2 function.
My cure for flickering firebox lights is this little module. It runs on track power and has four flickering LED's, red, orange, and two amber. I put a plain white paper diffuser in front of the module to enhance the effect.

Are you selling those boards John?
I just bough flickering LEDs on eBay, red and orange. They only require a series resistor and a diode if you wire them to track voltage. . Mine were a bit less than these.

I just cut a black pice of plastic and drilled 6 holes in it for the LEDs and put em in then used the mount that was there.
