Erratic chuff on K-line PRR A5 Switcher

Forgot to mention, the A5 has TMCC and Railsounds.

If the chuff is erractic, the switch is still working. It just needs to be adjusted. You will need to remove the shell and likely some boards to be able to get to it. Its not difficult just a little time consuming. They are usually light green, about 1/4" x 3/8" located above the front driver axle.

Thanks for the reply.  Already have loco apart and checked switch.  The switch plunger that is pushed into the switch body by the arm that rides on the cam doesn't come out of the switch body.   The NO terminals are closed.  You can get them to open of you tap on the top of the switch.  Suspect broken spring inside switch.  I think I need to look for a replacement switch.   Any other thoughts appreciated.       Going to check with Brasseur today to see if they have the part.

I am pretty sure Brasseur has the part.

If not you can use a Lionel part. This may not have the same connector but the switch will be the same.

The K-Line switch is indeed the same as Lionel, I have a bunch of them in my parts box.  Since the switch gets removed when I upgrade to 4-chuffs/rev, I end up with a bunch of switches.

Yes, Brasseur has the part. Mine looks similar to the picture except it is brown.  I have the K-line PRR B6 with TMCC and Railsounds, so I ordered extra.  Don't know what the normal life span of the switch is.

Thanks, but already had order in to Brasseur.    Off topic, but have a question.  How do you upgrade to the 4 chuffs per rev.    That is something I would be interested on doing to some of my railsounds engines.  What do you use for the trigger and where do you locate it.   Thanks.

I use my Chuff-Generator, it's mounted on the locomotive motor and uses a tach strip to generate the chuffs.  It's programmable so you can have any chuff rate, and you can calibrate it for four chuffs regardless of the gear ratio of the locomotive.
