I did email Dennis Zander and received a response that I will try today, I will post results good or bad.

The ESU forums are hard to navigate the search functions however there is a ton of good info there.

So, what's your thinking - have you decided which mode to use? You need a slow momentary on. Time the switch action with the DZ controller. Choose the mode that will provide that 1-2 second on interval.

You will replace the switch controller with the 51820  - you will then attach the switch motor ground wire to ground and the thru and out wires to separate voltage ports. You will lose TMCC/Legacy control.

The second factor to determine is to measure the DC voltage output from the DZ controller when supplied with 14 volts AC. Then, you will know what DC voltage to supply to the 51820 to supply the switch motor with the proper voltage. It's a DC motor. The controller converts it.

Finally, how will you determine switch position?

I think the DZ1000 would have been a better choice.

Thanks Carl. The mode I want to use is DCC or DCC Railcom, slow operation is what I am looking for. I am not worried about TMCC or Legacy control. If I contact the through wires "green and yellow" to the switch pilot I find that I am getting signal to the command station as when I select to move the switch the switch lights go back and fourth. if I connect the red and black wires of the switch to the track and the yellow/green to the com/output the switch slowly moves side to side but no contact with the console. I know the switch works as when I connect it to just track power it will manualy work just fine. I can build a fine cabinet or furniture however this simple electronic stuff confuses me..

TheDZ2500 is the "not so simple" controller.

The device that you want to use is designed to supply voltage from what I read. That's what will eliminate the DZ controller.

I took a quick peek at the instructions for the device. It appears that you have to choose a mode to configure it to operate whatever you are controlling. Then, that configures which ports you will use. Then, each port will be assigned a DCC code to address for operation.

it appears that you would follow the DCS/2 wire Mode to connect to the ports on the 51820. (see attached)

I don't do DCC, so I was only skimming the manual for that side.

You do grasp that the 2500 motor is not a snap, but a slow move of points that would need to be controlled by 51820 at the proper DC voltage.

Thank you MOONMAN I appreciate your help. I chose the DZ2500 because it was slow action. Now to figure out what ports those wires connect to on my switch pilot. I do believe it can be made to work even if bypassing the decoder. Otherwise i would require purchasing new DCC compliant motors, any recommendations on that?

Why didn't you stay with DCS(MTH) or TMCC/Legacy? Way easier to work with DCC becomes a hobby of it's own - all you want to do is run trains

How's the museum display coming along?

I finally have the funding for the museum of course now prices are up 20% on everything so adjustments or more cash will be needed but thats all good. I guess I chose DCC because I needed easier full automation for when I can not be here but that is another story/thread all in itself. Moving forward on my layout I have been building up my elevations and carving in where the track will lay, mountains and other terrain soon. I was hoping to get this switching and track sorted out before I got to much further in case I needed to change things up it would be easier now than when landscaped. I will soon post pictures in my thread to follow along with my project.  I know there are guys here on the Ogauge forums that are using the ESU system and was hoping to get them to respond and they may yet!

An update as to what I have concerning my switches.

Update as to what I have tried, see inserted picture for wiring diagram. What is happening is that the switch will only switch one direction but not back. So may be that is a wiring issue or I have it set up wrong. settings are DCC, 250 MS and toggle. I placed switches on external power supply as I will create a separate bus for switches, lights and other accessories. I am excited that I got it to go this far.

Well I can say I much appreciate Mr Zander from DZ switches he responded to my drawing and edited it to reflect the below image. With this wiring the switch just automaticly moves back and fourth with no action from the command station. 

Link this post in the HONGZ (HO, N, G and Z gauges) forum and ask for DCC help with this equipment. There will likely be more DCC players there.
