So while the Lionel trolley is traversing back and forth through the Dept. 56 village and the Victorian Christmas train is making it's way under the living room tree, folks stopping by will not be haunted by the ghost of Christmas lean.
Tonight's menu, for those that happen by:
Baked potato soup, baked squash soup, cheese tray with 11 kinds of cheese, relish tray with carrot sticks, several kinds of olives, cherry tomatoes and pickled green beans with a few other as yet determined pickles, cookie tray with several kinds of cookies and various fudges and candies, and all followed by a maple brulee.
Tomorrow's breakfast, for those that don't want to go home:
Three kinds of juices, coffee, tea and hot chocolate, bacon, scrambled eggs, chocolate/cherry scones, orange/cranberry twists and spiced roasted pears.
If folks haven't tired of my company and hang around for dinner, here's what they'll have to put up with:
Boeff en Croute, rosemary garlic potatoes, sugar snap peas with orange ginger sauce, green beans and carrots with citrus gremolata, orange cranberry salad, steamed figgy pudding with Madiera hard sauce, brandied fruit with a port sauce. Throughout the day there will be various trays of cheeses, candies, cookies, cakes, tea, coffee, wassail bowl and I have several types of wine that will be available for the meal and throughout the day. They better eat hearty - no supper tonight!
Monday breakfast, for those bent on self destruction:
Pumpkin waffles with maple or apple syrup, sausage, coffee, tea, orange juicel
Just for the record, everything on the menu except the citrus, olives and tenderloin is home grown and homemade including jams, jellies, syrups, breads, veggies and other fruits. Sure is fun, ya know.
Hope you all have a wonderful time tomorrow and can forget all your cares for a day or two and just enjoy the season.
Joe
