Alright guys I'm going to ask the horrible question...

I have access to some 4.75"x48"x96" Beadboard (Expanded) (EPS) Foam. I know its not ideal for layouts, but I would prefer to use it because of its price point ($10/sheet) compared to Expanded Foam ($33/sheet for 2x48x96). I'm not looking to do a lot of detail or anything Im basically going to have a 36" Tunnel, a 24" bridge and the rest is flat. (total size 6x7').

My plan is one sheet mounted on some chipboard and paint it with a latex based paint, and sprinkle with foam covering (WS Grass / Burnt grass). I'm not looking for super realistic or anything as I will be using ceramic houses on part of my layout.

I thought about using either heat of some sort (heatgun?) to smooth the rough edges once I get the initial river bed formed and then paint and add WS realistic water product.

For the mountain / tunnel I figured sculpt it out of this foam, smooth it and  plaster over it and then paint it, I'm not to worried about major details, just have it look nice. I'm not doing a cliff side or anything that would need a high level of detail, so I think I might be okay????

Thoughts?
