I searched the forum and found several suggestions for suppliers of aftermarket engineer figures for engines. I've got 7 WBB engines and a couple of Lionel modern engines that lack figures in the engine.  I'd prefer not to have to paint them or build custom seats, so I'm leaning toward the MTH products. Looks like $30 gets covers a steam engine and a diesel (different era figures in a set).

Has anyone added these MTH figures to semi-scale engines? Any issues or suggestions?  I looked at the Lionel support website and they have some options, as well, but almost too many, and I'm trying to keep this simple.

I've added figures to a ton of stuff.  I usually shop around and find cheap engineer figures at shows or at York.  As far as the seats, they're easy to fabricate, even a simple block of wood or Styrene will do as a seat.  Paint the seat to your taste and seat your engineer and fireman.

Agreed.  I just cast around the net and find engineer/fireman figures that I like (not enough train shows in my area).  The seats are simplicity itself -- as Gunrunner says, a little styrene or even wood can become a seat in short order.

For diesels, I agree with Mike_CT that you might need a bulkhead, depending on the locomotive.
