Silly question I'm sure, but, Do the extra large big boy and other extra large O scale engines run/track fine on the O gauge tubular menards/lionel tinplate track? I just want to be sure that given an 072 or larger curve those massive engines are still Ok on O scale tubular track and don't "need" Gargraves/ross. Thx.

I've run my VL-BB on O72 tubular track, it didn't seem to mind. One thing about tubular track, the "scale wheels" on the MTH switchable 3/2 rail locomotives don't like it or Fastrack at all. As long as the locomotive has the pizza cutter flanges, you should be fine.
Thanks John, that's kinda what I thought but now that I just dropped a bundle on that new 2-10-10-2 steamer it seems foolish I didn't double-check myself first. I'm going to try to hold off buying any more trains until after the layout (another thread) is built. I hope you follow my threads, I can tell you clearly know your train craft. Thx!
I run Lionel Big Boy and other large articulated engines on 096 tubular track with no Problems.

All scale steam and diesels and will run fine. The problem is modern era tubular O72 switches with many of the bigger wheeled steamers
That cw80 holding up strong like bull!
Did you see what they use for smoke fluid? I wonder if they buy it at Amazon?

Well, for around $10, you can get a really big bottle of it, I see Hobby Lobby has it for $9.99.
