Extra “parts” in MTH box - what are they ? | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

After a move, I got my MTH U25B out of the box but I did a dive into the little side pockets and found this little packet of parts. The look like steps or walkway pieces but for the life of me I can’t find anything wanting for pieces.
Can anyone help ?

Those looks like steps for the front (just under the hoses).

Footboards for the pilots. Probable so they wouldn't break off in transit.

Also, pilot footboards were outlawed (except for steam locomotives) in 1978.
