Finally, EZ-street is really here!

I noticed M. B. Klein (modeltrainstuff.com) has EZ-Street in stock now on their website.  I ordered four full circles of D-21 roadtrack this morning - the old Superstreet versions had been nearly impossible to get for months and I need a lot of it, also one of every other track section type and one vehcile, just to check them all out.

BTW - the RMT BANG will run on EZ-Street D21 curves.  This is actually important to me for a project I am doing.

Absolutely!  That would make a real difference when it comes to planning an E-Z Streets (aka SuperStreets) layout or incorporating that track system into an existing layout.

I am interested in Super Streets or whatever its now called...is there an on-line description of the various items available?

BTW: Lee, if that was your article in OGR on Superstreets your final result looked very realistic, although it seemed like it must  have taken a long time to accomplish.

I'd like to incorporate moving vehicles in my new layout. It'd be great if these things could be made to operate via command control and not operate on rails, such as actual remote control vehicles in O-scale. I would think that would be loads of fun.

I would dearly love to have good, remote operating turnouts for EZ-Street, but I have planned my layout without them for the time being.  I suspect it will be a while before Bachmann starts offering them: that they will most likely concentrate on re-issuing the other vehicles and filling in the product line with easier stuff to develop first.

I cheat now, because I do have switches on my SS.  On the left in the picture below the road sections you see just inside the tunnel entrance are Lionel transition pieces (SS to O-27 tubular track)  - as O-27 track, the loop does a full turn to come back the other way out of the tunnel, in the other lane - all under the scenery.  However, just inside the tunnel there is a Lionelturbular track switch that goes off to several others to create a three-siding "18-wheeler" switchyard where I can park three vehciles (I lean down and look through the tunnel entrance to see them, if and when I operate them).   I plan to use switches under the scenaery to similarly connect two loops I am builting now.

While out at the big box store I spotted Hot Wheels radio control cars. (I am a HW collector having been a test kid back in the day) The R/C cars were smaller than regular HW cars which are about 1/64 scale. So a full function 1/48 R/C cars would not be impossible. The HW R/C cars was around $20 for the complete set.

The advantage I like of Superstreets is that you can just set the vehicles moving, like a train, and depend on them to keep moving on their own so you can do something else.  I like to let a buch loose on the roads and just have them circulating.

A remote control vehcile you have to "drive" IS fun though.  I bought this for all of $14:

its 1/32 scale but just a tiny sports car so it will fit on my SS roads (if no SS cars are on them).  It's pretty cheaply made and not the best RC, but its fun for the money and I managed to learn to drive it around the roads on my layout okay.
