Hi everyone,

It's been quite some time since I have posted here, mostly due to academic commitments, but thanks to a break provided by the medical school I am attending I was able to attend a Carl Franz Photo Charter on October 23, 2017.

Although not trying to create anything very historically significant, it was very enjoyable since all three operating locomotives would be taking part in the event. Very rarely, as a regular visitor to the SRC, do you see events like this occur.

With that said, here is the video from the day:

And some pictures as well: (I shot over 850 pictures in 13 hours and haven't even gotten through half of them yet! )

It is approximately 5:15 am on October 23, 2017 and Hostler Dave Lotfi is at the helm of N&W M Class #475. Sometimes the best shots at a photo charter are before the event even starts!

N&W #475 puts on a steam show at Beiler's Crossing. The Amish families who lent us their land this day deserve a lot of credit for allowing us to have fun on their property.

More pictures to come as I edit them!

I have not seen the N&W Mastodon run.

Per White's table in the Locomotive Cyclopedia, 4-8-0's were known as Twelve Wheelers.  A Mastodon was a 4-10-0.

I think the Mastodon name comes from Central Pacific's name for their 4-8-0, which was Mastodon.  N&W also called their 4-8-0s Mollies.

The only name I've ever seen for the 4-10-0 was El Gobernador, which was for the only one built, also for Central Pacific.

THAT is NOT correct!!!!!!!    The N&W men NEVER referred to the 4-8-0 locomotives as "Mollies". That term is a model railroader/hobiest term.

My apologies.  Only going from what I remember reading here and there.  Were they called Mastodons at least, or just Twelve Wheelers?
