Can you install a fan driven smoke unit in a williams engine? And if so where can you buy one. Just was thinking that would be kind of fun to try and do. Thanks for info on this . Hope you are all having a good weekend.

yes you can...get one from lionel for 35.00..what kind of train is it? diesel or steam? and is it TMCC? or not?
I would like to try to put one in a williams engine. It is not command control. But they sure run nice and smooth.
You could use the basic Lionel 8057 fan driven smoke unit.
It will run off track power in conventional.
If steam it should fit up to your stack just fine.
If diesel you may have to make some sort of adapter.

Charlie I have a new Lionel unit. You also can use the MTH PS-1 version, I also have one.
For Lionel you will need to manufacture a bracket to get the height right, MTH Diesel smoke has longer legs so all you need to do is modify the stack mesh with the shell stack.
You need to check for room inside, depending on the size and location of the Williams speaker and circuit board it may not fit.
I have added smoke when doing conversions to PS-2 for Williams and Atlas engines. G
Been thinking about this as well, thought about a MTH, 2nd, "A" unit, but all of the
P/S 2, worries me. So, Williams , what do you use for Adapter, just a plain ole
piece of wood and drill holes thru, base plate of Diesel eng. Got a WBB Sd-90
thanks
If you want LOTS of smoke, use the MTH PS/1 smoke unit.

You can use Brass stock you get at a hardware store or LHS to make a bracket similar to what is used in Lionel and MTH engines. G
