Check out this photo of 611 on RailPictures.net. http://www.railpictures.net/vi...d=533353&nseq=10 taken by NS Corporation photographer Casey Thomason of 611 and her 23 car train as it crosses a trestle in Lynchburg, VA today.  The train was on the way to Manassas, VA for weekend excursions.

I don't have a track chart, Jack, but having taken video of her at that location I would say it's pretty much level there. The scene is at 9:05 into the video. I was on the upstream side of the bridge while Casey's pic is from the downstream side.

She was handling 21 cars plus the canteen when I filmed this 22 years ago.

Since they didn't have to "rebuild" 611, it was only about a year, including the fund-raising I believe. The locomotive really only required the FRA mandated 15 year inspection, which is pretty much all boiler work.
