I was thinking about adding some farm sounds (cows & the like) to my farm scene. Thought the kids would get a kick out of it & add some interest.
Anyone have suggestions of what I can get & where?

Look in the Scenery Sourcelist under ITT Products.
Along with the scenery source list maybe you could google search too. Many years ago QSI did some sound boxes for a number of scenes. Not 100% sure but one of them may have been farm sounds.............Paul
QSI made the Sound Boxx. They made a farm animal one with chickens, cows and pigs. They come up on E-bay. I have a few of them and they are very reliable and adjustable. Keep a lookout for them. Don
thanks guys
ITT. Com has all kinds of sound blocks. And you can buy the speakers as well. I have the Saw Mill sounds and the Helicopter one as well!
MRC made a sound unit that made all kinds of sounds. There are a few farm sounds among others. It was discontinued, but you can still find them for fairly cheap. I have the loco sounds version and the sounds are good. The only con is the low volume. There is no line out, so getting it louder would be a challenge.
It is called, AA552 city and country sound station.
Where's Farmer Bill?
Radio Shack used to have a module that you could record yourself. I'm working on one, but I haven't brought it out yet.
For a low volume solution, you can look at bigDAWGS Greeting Card Modules, you can record anything you like. I used several of these with a DC power source, but they're not all that loud. As long as it's not real noisy, they work pretty well. A good baffle on the speaker helps the volume a bunch.
I found a lot of sounds on websites for free. I got crickets, dogs, cats both 'meow' and cat fight. Just about anything is possible. I then downloaded them onto a chip I bought off ebay for less then $5. Hit a button and sound plays for around 30 sec.....plenty really.
Some of the Ertl toy farm sets had sounds. The one I used has the sounds in the silo. Apply batteries and push the button(s). The large flat block at the bottom of the silo.
A google search for "farm sounds" results in several useful links, such as this one.
Do a search on eBay for "record & playback module" and many will come up for around $3. Note some record & playback for 10 seconds, others for 20.
Play (from link above) whichever sounds you want, record them with the module(s), and then play them back.
That is what I did for the sound of my home made (video included) Jugband concert hall.

I was looking at those. They seem pretty good. Two questions - how's the sound quality & can you power the board off AC?0
There are some farm sounds I don't think would be good for kids, especially from old farmer Arnold I used to work for. I learned lots of new words those summers when I was young making hay!
Christopher:
I haven't tried this, but the first thing that leapt to mind would be to get a low-cost, low-capability iPod on eBay, load it with sound files you download from the Internet, and just put it on shuffle. You could play it back through small speakers hidden in a barn. The iPod itself could be hidden with it, or just attached to your control panel somewhere so you could easily activate it.
This is a variant of Alex's (INGENIERO NO 1) suggestion above, but it's a bit lower tech.
HTH.

The ipod idea may work. I have protools on my laptop, so I can easily mix a bunch a of files together & make a loop & then save it as an MP3

Yes, the Quality is very good & Yes, I run them off of one of my Accessory Transformers!

I have a QSI Soundbloxx farm sounds module I was going to put on online auction, but I'd be happy to post mine in the buy/sell forum if you're interested. If I read the rules correctly, that's the only approved way to do this.
